Robin Summons is a Melbourne-based screenwriter and director.  Robin’s most recent short film, VICTIM (2022), starring Kat Stewart, premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival and went on to win Best Short Film at the Brisbane International Film Festival, the Sparrowland Film Festival, and the Peninsula Film Festival. In 2023, Robin was nominated for Best Direction in a Short Film at the Australian Directors’ Guild Awards, further cementing his emergence as a distinctive Australian filmmaker.

His earlier work includes SKEWWHIFF (2018), nominated for the Clermont-Ferrand Grand Prix and winner of Best Film at the Northern Lights Film Festival, and OCCUPATION (2020), which featured in The Overland, Director’s Notes and extensively across other publications. Robin has participated in two of Australia’s most competitive filmmaker labs: MIFF Accelerator Lab (2022) and the Sydney Film Festival Platform Incubator Lab (2024), where he developed THE CURE, a surreal period melodrama about 19th-century anti-vaxers.

As a writer, Robin has built a slate of emotionally charged and psychologically rich screenplays that explore subjects such as grief and guilt (MAMMALS), the motives of an arsonist (FUEL), and cults and climate change (CHANGE). His debut feature film as writer/director THE WAYWARD WIND is currently packaging with producers Selin Yaman (Sibel Pictures) and Michele Turnure-Salleo (Feracious Entertainment).

In 2025, Robin was commissioned to adapt an acclaimed literary work into a limited television series, further developing his voice in grounded Australian drama and mystery.

Robin is driven by cinema’s ability to generate empathy and is drawn to stories anchored in complex, deeply human characters.
